naked thanks0018

So glad Karin and decided to celebrate the weekend of our three month blogging anniversary together! Hard to believe that we’re already a quarter of the way done with our little experiment to become more grateful human beings.

It’s funny that both my blogging partner (Karin) and husband (Grey) hate rodents. Grey always talks about a rogue opossum in our neighborhood he thinks has it out for him and Karin’s worst fear is to be trapped in a room with long tailed rodents. (Sidenote: I have no clue if oppossums are rodents, but hey — whatever, they look like it). I myself, don’t really care for creatures with tails or pouches, but I have a way bigger fear of bugs — roaches, specifically.

But on Saturday’s protest, when I saw what at first looked like shredded chicken with teeth on the pavement, I was frozen in fear. All I managed to stutter was, “K-k-k-karin!!! Raaaaaaaat!” as raised my arm in the direction of the nasty dead thing that was haunting the sidewalk directly across from our blue toile-covered soapbox. Amazingly, without even batting an eye, Karin went over, kicked it out of the way with her preppy basset hound Wellies, and buried it beneath the snow so it could stop giving me the evil eye, errr, uh, tail. It was totally impressive.

She also surprised me with her fluent French-speaking skills, but even add to that her ability to speak Dutch and Japanese and I’m still most amazed with the rat-punting. Everyone needs friends like that in their corner!
