How frustrating is it, that it’s day 52 of the oil disaster and what’s really gotten done? I mean, the oil’s still gushing like crazy. Ok, so they’ve capped a little of it, but um, well, almost two months in, I should hope so!
While President Obama insists his peeps have done everything just right, really, I’m left wondering, how could they? Does he realize how long it’s been? If that’s him getting the job done right, what’s it like when he screws things up? Though I respect Obama just by nature of his job (Commander in Chief is probably the hardest job I could imagine), I think he’s falling short on this.
Luckily, at least the area has some good advocates, like Louisiana Plaquemines parish leader Billy Nungesser. I heard him on NPR the other day and I immediately liked the guy. He speaks his mind and isn’t afraid call a spade a spade, or in this case, a total catastrophe. He’s fat, rich, and kind of obnoxious (kind of like the guys I was attracted to in college) but what I like most about him is that he’s complained directly to Obama saying the Federal Government needs to ramp up their snail’s pace in dealing with this mess and finally pull out the big guns. Nungesser was the guy behind building sand berms to protect the coast — the ones Obama finally approved, despite the idea being on the table weeks, if not months ago. This guy has balls and he’s not shy about telling other people to grow them. I think that’s pretty cool.
This is the kind of guy that should be leading the charge!
