Karin thanks WL’s graphic designer/star of ABA

centerstage

There are just some movies that should have won Oscars, Golden Globes, People’s Choice Awards, and world acclaim. The epic dance movie “Center Stage” is one of them. While one clearly insane reviewer called it “filled to the brim with cliches” I know better! And I’m sure the world’s tweens would agree with me. So when Kelly and I found out that our wonderful new graphic designer Amie had never seen the film, we gasped and decided we needed to throw a viewing party complete with costumes of course.

As our interns past and present, Georgia, Ali, Dina, and Carley have seen the movie (I mean, obvi) they joined us for a little dance-inspired evening at casa Tanabe. It seems the editorial women of Washington Life just can’t throw a party without a theme and ridiculous costumes.

Carley, Dina, Kelly and I had been at our May fashion shoot all day and it had been a real long one. So when Kelly declared that she had brought modern dance ensembles for all of us, we pirouetted with joy. The only thing that could have made it better is if we could have boogied alongside Cooper Nielson in the American Ballet Academy finale. Thank god there’s always next year’s auditions.

A wonderful mix of Amie, Ali, Carley, Kelly and I in Kelly's old jazz dance costumes and Georgia and Dina in ballet-inspired ensembles. Life's a dance with this wonderful world of Washington Life editorial women.

Please note that in this photo where we all look a tad interesting, Carley's foot is by my hand. I think "American Ballet Academy" will be recruiting her for their upcoming Swan Lake.

As usual, the best costume was rocked by editor extraordinaire, Kelly Fisher. With an extensive background in jazz, tap, and modern, she had the ensembles to bring down the house. The one she's wearing is actually visible from space.

My sexual fantasy revealed! Kidding, kidding, I just want the red toe shoes.

The Center Stage Finale! What we need more of in the world is red toe shoes and matching ensembles.

Karin, I am proud of you for a lot of things, but this definitely takes the cake. Nice photo’s ladies, and Amie…I am sooooo sorry you have to endure Karin’s hazing.

  2. Karin Tanabe says:

Hazing? What hazing? Processed cheese and mediocre dance films while in costume? That’s not hazing, that’s a p-a-r-t-y!

  3. Carley says:

I appreciate that Ali is sacrificing a turn out for the skinny arm pose.
